Forgotten & Obscure Songs Pt. 6
November 2024’s list of forgotten and obscure songs. They’re no real criteria for these lists. They’re just some songs I feel are underappreciated.
Alex Metric - RW2 (2013)
This sonh has insane synth sounds and pleasant melodies. The drops are fantastic.
Gene Dunlap - Party in Me (1981)
I first found out about this song through the sample in the Avalanches’ song “Going Home.” Groovy and funky.
You’ll Never Get To Heaven - Beyond the Clouds (2017)
This song sounds inspired by Beach House and Cocteau Twins. This is an awesome song that takes me right back to a certain place and it’s cool when that happens with music.
The Modern Lovers - Hospital (1976)
This is easily one of the top 100 songs of all time. I gotta review the album this is on at some point. If you’ve never heard this song before, listen to it now. This is like pure raw, emotion in song form.
The Meters - Look-Ka Py Py (1969)
This brings up the vibes after “Hospital.” This is strutting music and the drums sound so good on this track.
Corners - Against It (2014)
This post-punk, Joy Division-inspired sound is right up my alley. Good shit. Indie should sound more like this and less like acoustic Phoebe Bridgers Starbucks ass bullshit.
Sextile - Disco (2018)
This song reminds me of 80s goth dance music. It’s pretty great.
Pete Heller - Big Love (Eat Me Edit) (1999)
We’ll end part 6 of this with more good vibes. This is some early-ish EDM that sounds like Daft Punk.
